The Creation of KidzGrow Online….a brief history…

Dear Parents, When we started out in early 2001 to offer a holistic range of therapy services to children with various needs, we started encountering many questions from concerned parents pertaining to the development of their children. These questions ranged from, “Should I be concerned that my child is still not speaking at 2 years?” to “Why is my child still not catching a ball when he is already 4?”. And whether our answer pointed to a “Yes, there is a concern....”, or “No, he is doing just fine…”, the question is invariably followed by “So, is there anything I can do to help him/her along?”. As child therapists who have worked with and seen children through various difficulties, we certainly have a wide source of information to share with you, parents, on firstly, whether your child is developing just fine, and secondly, what else can be done to enhance your child's development. As a result, KidzGrow Online was created, spearheaded by the team of IT and child development specialists from KidzGrow. The goal was to create a portal dedicated to the development of children in the first 6 years of their lives. We understand that today's parents carry a heavy load in their parenting role. Not only do they need to ensure that the family is comfortable in its basic living standards, but also to be involved in nurturing their children's physical, mental and character development. We appreciate that various sites on the internet and books in the bookstores offer a wealth of information for concerned parents to consume. But often, the question that comes back to us is “Can you introduce a good book to me?”. Thus one of our aims is not to add another ‘load' for today's parent, but to support you by providing pertinent information specific to your child, to providing individualized information for the unique development of each child at his/her specific age. And we chose to do this via animation because we want to convey our professional information in the simplest language possible. It is important to bear in mind that every child is a unique and special creation, and should never be ‘forced' to grow in any specific pattern. The information that you will receive in KidzGrow Online is meant to serve as a guide for you. There are general norms which have been established worldwide pertaining to the development of children. Our purpose is to let you have such information at your fingertips, so that if any concerns may surface, that you are empowered to seek help as soon as possible, for getting help early always aid in tackling the problem. And if your child is developing just fine, that you can rest in confidence and know exactly how to facilitate his continual development on the right track. And going back to the parent earlier who was extremely concerned that her 4-year-old was still not catching a ball, our advice was for her to relax, simply because she had chosen too small a ball for her 4-year-old to catch!
