PROGRAMME
-
Can I tell my child's doctor or my child's teacher the feedback I receive from KidzGrow Online?
Yes. In fact we have settings that allow you to print summary reports for your own filing or to give to your child's paediatrician or teacher. This gives the professionals in your child's life vital details about his/her development.
-
How are the developmental skills' milestones derived?
The development skills milestones, or "windows", are derived from several available research literature from various publications. Our therapists compiled and correlated these available data collectively from various sources and moderated them for KidzGrow Online. Selected tasks are usually presented somewhere in the middle of a developmental milestone window. For example, the activity of "Imitating Balancing on 1 foot" is introduced at the 30th month when the skill has a norm developmental window between 24 months to 36 months.
-
What if my child achieves the intended response(s) before the developmental norm window?
First, take time to praise your child, then move on to the next activity. You're well on your way to finding out about your child's strengths.
-
What if my child does not achieve the intended response(s) within the developmental norm window?
Our therapists have provided suggestions for stimulating the needed skills to achieve the intended milestones. If your child has not achieved the intended response, please simply come back and attempt the activities again at a later time. The programme will inform you again if this should become a concern.
-
What if I do not have the exact material(s) recommended in the module(s)?
One of the big factors in creating KidzGrow Online was to ensure that our therapists use items that are easily found and are inexpensive. So, rest assured that you probably have most of the materials lying around at home. If not, do not hesitate to use effective substitutes that will allow you to meet the goals of the activity.
-
What if my child does not respond according to the expected responses as listed in the module?
Children have their good days and bad days. Try again another day when your child is happy, well-fed and well-rested.
-
What should I do with the Therapists' feedback?
Take note of the suggestions in the therapists' feedback as it includes ideas for stimulation and/or further developing existing skills. It may be useful to share these suggestions with your child's carer and/or school teacher so that skills are reinforced across different settings.
-
Can I use KidzGrow Online for children with special needs?
While KidzGrow Online is not specifically designed for children with special needs, the activities and milestones skills are applicable for most, if not all, children. Therefore, parents with children with special needs should use the information in KidzGrow Online while taking into careful consideration any special needs of their children. For example, some of them may need more time and help to achieve the milestones as listed in the programme.
